Jimmy Garoppolo is a professional American football player who is currently the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on November 2, 1991, in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Garoppolo played college football at Eastern Illinois University, where he set several school and conference records. He was eventually selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Garoppolo spent the first three-and-a-half seasons of his NFL career as a backup to Tom Brady, but he was still able to learn from one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. 

He also got some opportunities to start games when Brady was suspended or injured.

In 2017, Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he quickly became the team's starting quarterback. 

He led the team to five straight wins to close out the 2017 season, earning him a five-year contract extension worth $137.5 million.

Garoppolo has continued to be a key player for the 49ers, leading them to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season. 

Although they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, Garoppolo had an impressive season with 3,978 passing yards and 27 touchdowns.

Garoppolo is known for his accuracy, quick release, and ability to read defenses. He is also respected by his teammates and coaches for his leadership and work ethic.
