With just seconds remaining in the game, the Mavericks had a chance to tie the score and force overtime.
However, Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made a crucial steal, denying the Mavericks their last chance to tie the game. The Lakers won 110-107.
LeBron James led the Lakers with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, recording his fifth triple-double of the season.
Anthony Davis added 28 points and 8 rebounds, while Caldwell-Pope contributed 19 points and 5 steals.
Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Kristaps Porzingis added 25 points and 9 rebounds, while Tim Hardaway Jr. contributed 19 points.
The win improved the Lakers' record to 22-19, placing them seventh in the Western Conference standings.
The Mavericks fell to 20-19, placing them ninth in the conference. Both teams are fighting for playoff spots in a highly competitive Western Conference.
